Simon Stagg is the CEO of Stagg Industries. Although he had built a careful reputation and facade as a philanthropist, Stagg appeared to be driven by ambition and greed in almost equal measure. Stagg was fascinated by "the man in the red mask", and his potential implications for humanity, though this fascination eventually led to Eobard Thawne stabbing him to death. Simon was later brought back to life when Detective Eddie Thawne shot himself to prevent Eobard from coming existing. Simon focused his attention on going after the young Bruce Wayne.

In his youth, Stagg went to Central City University. When Stagg graduated, he founded Stagg Industries at the same time Thomas Wayne started Wayne Corp and William Dent started Dent Industries. Stagg would secretly participate in illegal business practices since he felt the success of his company was overshadowed by both Thomas Wayne and William Dent's success.

Attack By Danton Black

Simon was being honoured at Stagg Industries for his work in organ transference, being named man of the year by Central City University. He thanked everyone and began to leave, refusing to give Iris West a quote for her article. A squad of men stormed the event with guns, looking for Simon, however he'd already left. Sometime later, Detectives West and Thawne came to Stagg, asking about a potential suspect of theirs, Danton Black, though he claimed that Multiplex was merely a biogeneticist, not a killer. As he farewelled the detectives, the group of men appeared again; and unbeknownst to Stagg, they were in fact all Danton Black and his clones. He was rushed off by Thawne, though West was shown the true nature of their identities shortly after. Following their encounter, Joe urged reconsidering protective custody, though Stagg reassured that he'd upped his security. He greeted Reverse Flash, who'd arrived, sarcastically suggesting not to get up for him, and returned back to Stagg Industries. Later that night he finally came face to face with Danton. Before he could be shot, Barry Allen, in his suit, sped through, grabbed him and told him to stay in his office. Barry ultimately beat Black by accidentally allowing him to fall out of the building. Simon sat in his office through the night, when he was visited by Eobard Thawne. They began discussing Simon's savior, as if he was "Mercury on earth". Simon Stagg suggested that there were possible major implications if they could find and harness the man's power. However, wishing to protect the man who would come to be known as "The Flash", Eobard stood up from his wheelchair and stabbed Stagg, killing him.

Targeting Bruce Wayne

When Detective Eddie Thawne shot himself, he erased Eobard from existing meaning that Stagg never died and ended up targeting Bruce Wayne after the events of 'The Fastest Man Alive'

Stagg confronted William and Harvey Dent when Dent Industries was failing since he wanted to bail the company out of bankruptcy out of respect. William felt Stagg was dirty and told Harvey how he, Thomas, and Stagg rose to success in the business world and Stagg got involved in criminal activities to support his company's potential success. Harvey knew enough and rejected Stagg's offer.

Stagg also had a history with Melissa Kirk when was working with Stagg Industries. Melissa found out how Stagg was performing illegal science experiments for Project Metamorpho and resigned from her position in the company. Stagg then arranged for Java and some thugs to kidnap Melissa and her daughter Ava. Fortunately, Bruce Wayne was able to rescue them and Stagg decided to go after Bruce due to a grudge he has on his father.

Stagg ordered Java to shoot Bruce and ended up being see in Bruce's alternate universe at a dinner party. Stagg was in the audience pretending to clap while Thomas Wayne received an award for his work by Mayor Grange. Bruce accused Stagg of having his father killed until Detective Gordon found evidence to prove he was innocent. Meanwhile, William and Harvey confronted Stagg once they learned his involvement in trying to kill Bruce Harvey wanted to see Stagg go to jail, however William bargained with Stagg. This was the deal: Stagg won't be charged for having Bruce killed if he bails Dent Industries out of bankruptcy. Stagg accepts the deal which makes Harvey angry. Stagg then left to go back to Central City.

Simon was arrogant, selfish, greedy, and amoral, he was known to steal people's research, or take credit for their work; because of this he had been sued at least 20 times. Although working hard to make most of the public sees him as a philanthropist and humanitarian, he was none of those things. When Simon discovered the existence of The Flash, he planned to exploit Barry's powers; this attempt was what led to his death at the hands of Reverse Flash.

  • In the DC comics, Simon Stagg is the amoral founder and CEO of Stagg Enterprises/Industries and a minor villain. He is notable for being the man responsible for the creation of the superhero Metamorpho, The Element Man, whom he was attempting to kill. He acts as Metamorpho's archenemy.
